Entwined Futures: Paid Mentoring Opportunity

Entwined Futures: Paid Mentoring Opportunity

Wed 27 Jul 2022 by Co-operation Ireland

Co-operation Ireland is running a programme in Autumn 2022 called ‘Entwined Futures’ which will involve 160 students (aged 13/14) from 8 Schools on a cross-border and cross-community basis. We are looking to recruit two Group Mentors to assist the Entwined Futures team in delivering the project.

The role will be paid at an hourly rate of £18 or €21 and the total number of hours available is 87 – potential to earn £1,566/€1,827 for approx. 10 days work.

Group Mentors will work alongside the lead facilitator and guest facilitators in motivating and engaging with the students involved in Entwined Futures through group work sessions in team building, workshops, and a film-making residential.   The main role is to facilitate and support the young people to work effectively together – you won’t be expected to deliver any content.

Entwined Futures will explore the themes of citizenship, identity, and sovereignty through the lens of the past with a view to both improving understanding of how the present has been shaped by historic events, but also looking beyond divisions to recognise common ties and how people can overcome differences to work together for common goals.

Group Mentors will be given an overview of the aims and outcomes through training at the outset of Entwined Futures and be supported by Co-operation Ireland staff throughout the duration of the project.

In addition to the training session scheduled for late August 2022, Group Mentors would need to be available for 10 days throughout the project – Monday 12th September, Wednesday 14th September, Tuesday 20th September, Thursday 22nd September, Wednesday 5th October, Friday 7th October, Thursday 13th October, Friday 14th October, Monday 17th October, and Tuesday 18th October 2022.

Locations will be Belfast, Dundalk and Greenhill YMCA, Newcastle.  If you have transport you’ll be able to claim for mileage – if not we can reimburse for public transport and we can also look at car-pooling.

If you would like to be considered for the role please contact Matt Gamble [email protected] or Corinna Crooks [email protected] expressing your interest, including a few lines on how you would be suitable for the role and why you would like to take the opportunity on.

Closing date – Midnight Wednesday 3rd August
