Pat Jennings turned back the tide of time to captain his team to land his own Golf Classic in aid of Co-operation Ireland at Royal County Down on Monday October 7 2024.

Along with lifetime friend Larry Powell, grandson Niall Coates and Ireland, Arsenal, Man City and Sunderland Legend Niall Quinn, they shot an amazing 94 points in the team competition where best two scores counted throughout.

They had five points to spare over their nearest rivals. 31 teams took part in the Classic and the course and weather combined to offer a fabulous opportunity to play the world’s number one golf course at its very best. Northern Ireland football hero, Gerry Armstrong and local television and radio presenters Joel Taggart and Pete Snodden joined Liam Brady, Pat and his celebrity guests for the 30th anniversary of this charity Golf Classic.

Many of the Pat Jennings participating teams limbered up at Ardglass Golf Club on the Sunday but the East Down Course bared its teeth with gales of over 30 miles per hour and swirling rain making playing conditions extremely difficult in the Single Stableford event which had to be reduced to 15 holes. Liam Brady was overshadowed for once by his son Michael who shot a terrific 37 points off a handicap of 10.

After Golf on Monday, a presentation Dinner and Cabaret took place in the Slieve Donard Hotel with some superb entertainment form Mairead Rooney and Michael Samuels and a fantastic Raffle and Auction to help generate funds for Co-operation Ireland’s flagship Future Leaders Programme.
