National Citizen Service in Northern Ireland

Sadly, for the most part, NI NCS is taking a break for 2021. We hope to be back soon and will update here when we have news.

(If you live in the North West, there are a small number of places available as we pilot a Covid-safe model. Please contact Darragh Graham, [email protected] for more info)

In the meantime, thinking about the future, here’s a wee overview of what NI NCS can offer.

NI NCS ordinarily runs twice a year in summer and autumn and is delivered in 16 areas across the country over the course of the two seasons.

Taking place from the end of June in summer and the Halloween break in autumn, NCS begins with an action packed residential experience away from home within a team of 12-15 people, then a discovery phase to learn skills for life and work, and finally meeting up with the team to plan and deliver an action project to make a difference.  We wrap up with a graduation and celebration event with all NI NCS graduates from your season.

Northern Ireland National Citizen Service (NI NCS) is a way for 15-17 year olds living in Northern Ireland to make extraordinary friendships, build skills for life & work and create unforgettable memories.

NCS involves

  • Staying away from home
  • Taking on new challenges
  • Gaining new skills
  • Making new friends
  • Planning and running a team social action project
