We are delighted that Dr Brett Carey has offered his help and support to the Co-operation Ireland Future Leaders Programme.  Dr Carey is a physical therapist hailing from Kona, Hawaii, and is the CEO of Kalo Physical Therapy and outpatient multi-speciality group that serves the rural Big Island community, and all the members of Hawaii’s diverse community   His family originates from County Tipperary.

Dr Carey is involved with the Friends of St Patrick, Hawaii, and was recently awarded Irish Person of the Year 2021.

Referring to the Co-operation Ireland Future Leaders Programme he said “I look forward to continuing to strengthen ties between the island of Ireland and Hawaii Island. We have so many young politicians here that have channelled their frustrations of being Hawaiian-Americans into productive, community strengthening initiatives and I know we can create some great synergy there”.

On a visit to Northern Ireland in 2019 he said “Meeting with leaders from Northern Ireland and mentoring young adults from places like Belfast and Derry, I have seen the promise of a peaceful future for all the people of this region”.

Co-operation Ireland is looking forward to developing the relationship with Dr Brett Carey and the community on the island of Hawaii.
